Jack Ferwerda Memorial Scholarship

The winner of the Jack Ferwerda Memorial 4-H Scholarship for Ottawa County is Anna Timmerman. Anna is a freshman at Michigan State University majoring in crops and solid science. While in 4-H Anna served as both president and secretary of the Teen Club and was active in market livestock as well as horticulture and crops and soils projects. She also showed poultry and rabbits and had her own club for members in those projects. Anna won the National 4-H Horticulture contest and taught numerous state wide workshops on horticulture for MSUE.

Jack Ferwerda will be remembered for his lifelong involvement in 4-H first as a member and then as a leader in Ottawa County where he led the Blendon 4-H Club. Jack was a dairy farmer who championed the cause of farming and who shared his enthusiasm with thousands of young people over his life time.
