Teen Club Lock in Cancelled for 2009

After consideration of many factors, the Teen Club voted against sponsoring a Lock-in event in 2009. The factors included the economy, 'lock-in' fatigue and issues with the venue. They will work hard on fundraising projects throughout the rest of this year and bring back the Lock-in next year on a grander scale.

On the positive side, Teen Club is going to be lighting the lanes on fire at Lincoln Lanes in Standale January 24th at 5pm when they get together for their bowling outing.

The service project discussed at the last meeting was using Teen Club man power to help feed the hungry, such as helping distribute donated food to those who need it. Each member is asked to suggest an organization through which we could do this to the February meeting.
As an example, Love INC in Grand Haven coordinates a food truck with 2nd Harvest Gleaners to come in to a local church parking lot and folks come to get the food there. They are always looking for service groups to help with the distribution, especially on cold winter mornings!

Lastly, it is time to think seriously about State Awards. State Awards is a great learning experience that helps you create a wonderful keepsake chronicle of your 4-H career. Notebooks are due March 1 for the region and the office has all the materials you need to get started. Please contact us if you are interested. We will be sending out information to those who have competed in the past or have expressed an interest this year.
